Forest to Lumber to Completion Workshop…

9 days with master teacher Eustace Conway!

October 18 - 26

Eustace describes his workshop, “Building Freedom’s House”

Challenging and rewarding, focused work and big accomplishment, describe this week long workshop with Eustace Conway leading this very rare opportunity NEVER offered before. We as a team, teaching team building skills will design together a straightforward common sense 16’ by 14’ cabin, and then go into the gorgeous forest of Turtle Island Preserve (a sanctuary for nature, truth and freedom) and select the very specific trees (teaching forestry and many overlapping logging skills) to use for constructing the cabin. The material components of this cabin that the team will build together during this week-long intensive work/educational workshop will be harvested on site by your team and processed completely by the team.

Design skills, building techniques and skills, successful building with absolutely fresh green dripping wet lumber, work ethics, goal setting and completion, tools and tool use, logging (from the forest to the sawmill to the building site), are headings, just to name a few of the educational components designed into the teaching of this active hands-on class framework!

In short, we will go into the forest and harvest the materials to build an extraordinarily sturdy and well built primitive cabin (no electrical and no plumbing involved, as we are totally and completely off grid at the Preserve). The cabin will be “stick built”, frame construction with true dimension sawmill (rough sawn) lumber, 2x6 and 2x8 for example (the art of building with rough sawmill lumber by itself is rare and “unheard of these days”). All of the materials we will learn how to make and produce ourselves with mentor assistance on an antique 100+ year old circular sawmill that is still going strong on location, and build the structure ourselves.

Every second will be dripping fecund rich with education and skill base inspirational and enlightening perspective. We will start with nothing but raw land and complete the whole structure with roof on and in the dry, with team members (new friends) all in one week; blank spot in the forest to begin with and get your picture taken in front of the cabin that you built from trees that don’t even know they are dead yet, completion at the end. This is your opportunity for an unprecedented rare workshop, skill set and learning/teaching opportunity.

The Clear intention for this workshop is that you yourself as a participant will go home with the knowledge, skill and inspiration, to be able to build your own outbuilding structures on the freedom track, with the knowledge and empowerment gleaned from your time at Turtle Island Preserve and the coaching/knowledge of Eustace Conway.

No tool list or specific experience level is necessary, however personal tools are encouraged if you would like to bring them. A chainsaw is especially handy, but not necessary. Do bring a strong work ethic, a passion for leaning and a willingness to trust leadership and follow directions. This is not a relaxed vacation week. This is a serious work camp to do more in one week than most people ever have. Work, work, work, work; learn by doing. Make sue you are in the right place! Eustace wants to pass on all of this rare information while he is still alive and capable of passing the torch to the younger generation.

FYI…this time of year is one of the most beautiful at Turtle Island.
