Youth Camps

Our unique overnight summer camps offer natural living experiences and exceptional outdoor education. We are here to help boys and girls become balanced people. Our camps are separated by gender with week-long camps for boys age 8-10 and two weeks for boys age 11-17. Our girls enjoy one week for ages 8-11 and one week for girls age 12-17.

Father - Son Camp

Father and Son Camp at Turtle Island Preserve is held annually. It is an unusual opportunity in a profoundly magical place. It is a long weekend for fathers and their sons to slow the rapid pace of life for a few days and to camp out on our unique Appalachian Heritage farm. Together in the time-tested tradition of our ancestors, men and their young boys take time to reconnect together with their natural roots. 

Family Camp

Slow down and escape the fast pace of our busy scheduled lives, while Turtle Island's Family Camp provides a unique and special opportunity for parents and their children to enjoy each others uninterrupted company while experiencing the joys and wonders of the natural world. Custom designed Family Camps are available any time a group of 12 or more requests a reservation.

Educational Camps

A school trip is a one-of-a-kind outdoor living experience, confronting and realizing the essentials of life. Your students will have the opportunity to see the world through new perspectives created through immersion in our pristine wilderness environment. They are guided by our sensitive educators toward understanding the beautiful intricacies of life. Both day-long field trips and overnight camp-outs are available.

University and College Service Learning

University Discovery Visits: both day-long and overnight visits are available to college and university groups. Hands-on lessons are offered in Forest Management, Homesteading, Appalachian Lore, Permaculture, Off-Grid Living, Alternative Energy and more!

College Service Learning: Alternative Fall and Spring Break Service-Trips are available to college groups all throughout the United States!

Scout Retreats

Unique learning opportunities abound for Scouting Adventures at Turtle Island. It’s a chance for bonding deeply with your group in a beautiful mountain setting. Scout excursions always give us the pleasure of celebrating our mountain heritage together. We offer high-quality, profoundly impacting day trips & extended overnight stays for both boy and girl scouting groups of all ages. Our exceptional staff guide visitors in countless outdoor adventures that we custom-fit to each group’s individual needs and interests.
