Scout Camp - Early Season

Two sessions:

September 10-12 (Fri-Sun)

September 24-26 (Fri-Sun)

Goals:

  • Learn the basics:

    • Scouting & tracking

    • Building ground blinds

    • Navigation & orientation

    • Mountaineering

  • Clear trails

  • Basic etiquette and respect for nature

  • Learn to be comfortable and present in the woods

    (Max participants: 10)

Deer Camp - Mid season

Two sessions:

October 15th-17th (Fri-Sun)

October 22-24 (Fri-Sun)

  • Build upon and practice Scout Camp Goals

  • Gun proficiency - safety & handling

  • Shot placement

  • Deer behavior and habitat

  • Conservation and why it's important

  • Field dressing

Rut Camp - Peak Season

November 12-19 (Fri-Fri)

  • Build upon and practice Scout & Deer Camp Goals

  • Stalking

  • Breeding behavior

Harvest Camp

November 20-21 (Sat-Sun)

All welcome - Participants from Scout, Deer and Rut Camps are encouraged to attend.

Goals:

  • Celebration & Gratitude!

  • Taking the deer from start to finish:

    • Skinning

    • Quartering

    • Storage: smoking, canning, jerky making, freezing

  • Recipes & cooking techniques

(Max participants: 30)

Details:

Available Spaces: listed in camp descriptions above (no unchaperoned minors)

Cost: $140 p/participant per day

Cancellations: all payments are non-refundable

Road Conditions: 1.5 miles off-road gravel - watch the VIDEO

Location: 8 miles east of Boone, NC - Base Camp at Turtle Island Preserve is just 2 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway - Bamboo Gap Exit

Schedule: Participants arrive at 11am Friday to get oriented and settled in. Three hot meals a day are served between sessions. The camp ends after lunch on Sunday.
